Year 8 Mathematics

Yes. ProEd’s Year 8 Mathematics program covers the entire NSW syllabus in full, ensuring students are confident with every core concept taught at school. However, we also go beyond the syllabus by introducing topics such as harder indices, surds, and trigonometry.

Although these areas are not formally part of the Year 8 curriculum, we believe it’s valuable for students to be introduced to them early. This early exposure helps students build familiarity and confidence before they encounter these topics in higher years, giving them a strong head start for Advanced and Extension Mathematics courses later on.

The best time to start Year 8 at ProEd is in Term 4 of Year 7. Beginning early allows students to stay one full term ahead of school content and adjust smoothly to the increasing difficulty of high-school mathematics.

Our Year 8 program runs across four terms and includes several advanced topics that we believe students greatly benefit from being exposed to earlier—such as multi-stage probability, surds, and trigonometry. These topics are introduced in an accessible way, helping students develop confidence and familiarity before encountering them formally at school.

We also offer flexible entry points throughout the year, so students can join at any time based on their current level and goals.

ProEd provides a wide range of ongoing support to ensure every student has access to help when they need it. We offer free daily workshops, a #justask channel on Discord for quick tutor assistance, and Igloo revision sessions to help students prepare for school assessments.

Students can also request extra printed materials or targeted practice sets at no additional cost. This combination of classroom learning, online support, and personalised resources ensures that all students receive continuous guidance and reinforcement beyond their weekly lessons.
